Large wheel thrown and altered stoneware pot with freehand cut and joined ‘wings’

For this piece I really let my instinct for the design to just flow and I’m pleased with the results.

I have created an abstract sunrise inspired by the view towards the ocean in the morning that I often see from my window in Ramsgate.

Underglaze pencil symbols represent humanity and our ancient tribal history, these have come from my imagination and have no specific meaning, you can see in them whatever you like. Green dashes are evocative of the Kentish fields and the orange and pink the sunrises.

The piece than had a third firing to apply the real 22k gold details and stars.
